Statistical population consisted ofexperts and hospital senior managers in Imam Mousa Kazem Hospital in 2002. The study tools included astandard questionnaire of EFQM whose validity was confirmed by faculty members and experts and itsreliability was obtained at 0.97 through Cronbach’s alpha. Data analysis was done in nine areas usingSPSS software. The study population were hospital top managers in 2002 who were selected throughcensus method. Data were collected using questionnaire based on EFQM model. Collected data wereanalyzed through RADAR rationale. Results: Imam Mousa Kazem Hospital obtained 599 points in its assessment; however, the area of enablersobtained 300 and area of results obtained 299 points. Obtained percentages for each of nine areas are asfollows: Leadership (60), policies and strategy (58), employees (68), resources and partners (60), processes(56), customers result (58), employees result (60), community results (63) and key performance (61%).Conclusion: The self-assessment based of EFQM model resulted in an information system of strength andweakness points in 9 areas so that RADAR logic, weakness points were determined for the interventionand improvement areas.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was determine the application of knowledge management among the staff members of central, faculty, and hospital libraries at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (Tabriz, Iran), based on Hissig model. Hissig model consists of four processes including knowledge creation, storage, sharing, and application. Methods: This descriptive survey included all of the listed members of university libraries (59 persons) in 2010. Using Cochran's formula to determine the sample size, 40 individuals were selected to participate. Sampling was conducted through stratified random sampling proportional to size. A 5-point Likert scale researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather the needed information. The face validity of the questionnaire was approved by experienced teachers. In order to determine the reliability, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated (α = 0.949). Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics, including single- sample t-test, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), and Scheffe's post hoc test, were used to analyze the collected data. Results: Our findings showed that the application of knowledge management based on Hissig model among the library staff members at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences had an average of 2.90 and was higher than moderate. While the studied population scored higher than moderate in knowledge creation (3.06), sharing (2.87), and application (3.12), their scores of knowledge storage (2.56) were lower than average. Conclusion: According to the findings of this research, the application of knowledge management based on Hissig model among the library staff members at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences was rated higher than moderate. However, between the investigated components, knowledge storage was rated lower than average which highlights the importance of knowledge storage among library staff members. Utilization of knowledge storage systems is thus essential. Keywords: Knowledge Management; Libraries; Hissig Model.

Abstract Introduction: Information technology and computers made an information explosion in past decade and now there is a need for a system to produce and manage information. This study investigated the application of information systems in hospitals. Doctors, nurses and other health care personnel need medical information for the treatment of their patients. Testing and correction in health care system is very wrong and unrepairable. Therefore, management based on accurate, exact and timely information and developing an information management system is very important in these institutions. This paper investigates the application of information systems in hospitals and their advantages and disadvantages. Methods: This is a descriptive and theoretical review study. The research population included hospital managers of the Isfahan city. The sample size was 15 based on the research population and sampling method was random stratified. Data were collected using a checklist which included 18 questions about duties, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the information systems with r=0.90. The content validity was approved by the professionals. Data were also collected by organized interviews with the hospital managers. To analyize data, the replies were coded and presented in three categories of duties, characteristics and effects of information systems on the institutional culture. Results: Findings showed that: 1. hospitals have 11 subsystems including acceptance, patient's leave and expenses, archive, laboratory, operation rooms, medical documentation management, wards management, radiology, nursing, pharmacy and drug store, hospital statistics and information, 2. the advantages of the information systems in hospitals include saving time, reducing human resources expenses, speeding information remittance, increasing information accessibility, 3. the disadvantages of information systems include secrecy of patients information and medical documentation, lack of cooperation by related institutions, high expenses of the information systems. Conclusion: According to the results, it can be concluded that information systems in the hospitals include 6 general subsystems of services, billing, equipments, resource management, treatment and public health; and the cultural factors of the institution influence all of these subsystems.
